US Department of Justice (USDOJ) COPS Hiring Grant - This grant provides 100% of the total cost of hiring three entry level police officers for a period of three years, including all pension, health benefits and cost of living increases for that time period. On May 25, 2011 a grant application in the amount of $817,893 was filed with the US Department of Justice.
USDOJ Secure Our Schools - This grant provides funding for the placement and use of additional video cameras at Abraham Clark High School, Leonard V. Moore Middle School and Grace Wilday Middle School, which will now be directly linked to Roselle Police Headquarters and the Board of Education Superintendent’s Office. A grant application in the amount of $95, 055 was filed on June 7, 2011 and the Roselle Board of Education has agreed by resolution to pay a minimum of 50% of the cash match because of the direct benefit to the public school district.
US Department of Homeland Security FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant – The 2010 application requesting $50,000 in funding for a portable decontamination unit that can also remove biological contaminants from buildings and vehicles is still pending.
NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Sustainable Jersey – This program will certify the Borough of Roselle as a sustainable community and make it eligible to apply for a variety of environmental grants. This certification also earns points towards the Municipal Aid point scoring system.
NJDEP Green Acres Program – On April 12, 2011, the Borough of Roselle was awarded a NJDEP Green Acres Grant in the amount of $850,000 and an additional $50,000 loan to be applied towards the matching funds requirement for a total $900,000 award for improvements to Pine Street Park, Chandler Avenue Park and Dr. Charles C. Polk Park for both passive and active recreational purposes.
NJ Department of Community Affairs Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities (ROID) – On June 1, 2011, the Borough of Roselle applied for $19,800 in ROID grant funding to implement a new summer program that will enable children ages 6-12 with disabilities to participate in many of the summer recreational, enrichment and leisure activities that are available in our community to other children.
2011 New Jersey Clean Energy Grants - this grant program funded by the NJ Office of Clean Energy and the Board of Public Utilities awarded the Borough of Roselle $125,000 in energy efficiency, HVAC and lighting upgrades to Roselle Borough Hall, the DPW Building, Library and Fire Department Building.
2010 New Jersey Clean Energy Grants - this grant program funded by the NJ Office of Clean Energy and the Board of Public Utilities awarded the Borough of Roselle $50,000 in energy efficiency, HVAC and lighting upgrades to Roselle Borough Hall, the DPW Building, Library and Fire Department Building.
