Recreation

The Borough of Roselle Recreation Department was implemented in January, 2012 upon the inauguration of Mayor Jamel C. Holley. Mayor Holley’s vision was to bring an experienced individual to the borough who could develop broad recreational opportunities and events for all Roselleans, Under this newly created department, Roselle has emerged as a leading recreational site in Union County, with streamlined processes for coordinating efforts of non-profit, volunteer sports clubs and organizations, as well as a plethora of borough sponsored activities.

Donald Shaw, a long-time resident of Roselle, Pop Warner football coach, youth mentor and parent, brought a wealth of knowledge and experience. His experience ranges from community development, program design and coordination, working with local, county, state and federal agencies in areas of compliance and reporting.

Some highlights of the Roselle Recreation Department's accomplishments thus far include a completely revamped and highly successful Summer Fun Camp which provides six weeks of camp activities, including nutritional meals, physical activities, education enrichment, field trips and mentoring for all children, working closely with various members of Council and the borough engineer to improve the quality of parks within the borough to provide enhanced activities for park-goers, multicultural street fairs, holiday concerts, and collaboration with volunteer organizations to organize and run annual Breast Cancer Walks and the John Young 5k Run.

The Roselle Recreation Department looks forward to continuing to meet the recreational needs of Roselle residents and encourages input ensuring we meet the needs of everyone in the Roselle community. Please visit the upcoming events section of this site to make note of dates of various activities in which you are encouraged to participate.
