Councilwoman - Ward 3
Andrea Staten reflects the epitome of passion and motivation for building strong communities at every level of engagement. Her life’s work has been focused on helping people achieve success at the highest level, and creating opportunities for access and fulfillment of personal goals.
With over 20 years in the mortgage banking industry, Andrea has created homeownership opportunities for hundreds of families throughout New Jersey. When the time came for her to make a personal decision to relocate to Roselle in 1997, Mrs. Staten quickly dedicated her time and service to several community organizations over the years. She has served as a certified Girl Scout Volunteer with the Roselle Troop #40545. In this role, she has been fortunate to help shape the development of young girls through mentorship. Additionally, Andrea’s involvement in the Roselle community includes her volunteerism with Roselle Soccer Team & Track Youth Club, Roselle Pop Warner, the Borough’s Department of Recreation, the Roselle Office of Service and Engagement (R.O.S.E.), and Third Ward Captain. Among her many honors, Mrs. Staten was the recent recipient of the Roselle Collaborative Community Vision Award for her enthusiasm and commitment to the community.
Andrea’s journey as a Public Servant soared to new heights during her previous service as a Class V Commissioner on the Roselle Planning Board. It was during this period, through her examination of proposed planning projects first-hand, where Andrea became more passionate about her vision for collectively achieving the stabilization of property taxes, improved public safety for the community, beautiful parks and recreation facilities for children and seniors. She is deeply connected to the premise that the children of Roselle stand to reap the benefits of the continued revitalization of the Borough, inclusive of clean streets and a competitive, thriving, school system.
Mrs. Staten is the proud mother of her 11 year old daughter, and an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.
