Kimberly Sharrock-Shaw is a native New Yorker,who relocated with her family to Roselle, New Jersey in 1997. Currently, she works as a teacher of English and advanced journalism at Rahway High School.
Sharrock-Shaw earned the title M.F.A. in May, 2009 when she graduated with honors from the inaugural class of the Rutgers Graduate School of Newark Creative Writing Program. She is also a graduate of City University of New York, Baruch College and State University of New York, Delhi.
After working 15 years as a legal secretary for white-collar criminal and civil defense firms in Manhattan, Sharrock-Shaw fulfilled her lifelong dream of working in the classroom. Her passion for teaching is evidenced by the countless hours spent working with students, tutoring before, during and after school hours. She also serves on the Community Partnership Committee whose primary focus is to reduce the minority achievement gap.
Kim is a published author of eight romance novels. She is currently writing for the Harlequin Kimani Press publishing line and has previously written for BET Books/Arabesque. She has won awards including Favorite New Author and through her fiction seeks to enlighten, uplift and entertain.
In addition to writing and teaching, Kim is working to develop a literacy initiative aimed at improving reading, academic skills and cultural awareness in the greater Roselle community. She served as President for the Rahway Chapter of NCNW for three years, Secretary for two years prior, and was a Roselle Girl Scout leader for five years.
Sharrock-Shaw has been married to Donald Shaw for seventeen years. Donald has served as a Roselle Pop Warner football coach for the past ten years and in 2007 was honored as Man of the Year by the Urban League Guild of Elizabeth. They have two children.
