The 2019 Annual Open Enrollment Period Begins October 1, 2018 and Ends November 15, 2018

Beginning in October, NJ FamilyCare beneficiaries can change their current health plan during the Annual Open Enrollment Period from October 1, 2018 until November 15, 2018.

If you choose a new health plan during the Open Enrollment Period, the effective date will be January 1, 2019 and continue through the calendar year. You can select from the following health plans:

  • Aetna Better Health of New Jersey (serving all counties);
  • Amerigroup Community Care (serving all counties);
  • Horizon NJ Health (serving all counties);
  • UnitedHealthcare Community Plan (serving all counties); and
  • WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (serving all counties EXCEPT Hunterdon).

If you would like to change health plans during the Annual Open Enrollment Period, you can call our automated service 24 hours a day, 7 days per week between October 1, 2018 and November 15, 2018. Call 1-866-472-5338 (TTY # 1-800-701-0720) to access your account by using your policy number and zip code, or your social security number and date of birth. You may also speak to an Open Enrollment representative at the same number during the hours of operation. The hours of operation are: Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you have Medicare, you may have more health plan options. Harvest Fest 2018

Bring the children out to enjoy a safe, fun-filled afternoon at Harvest Fest, sponsored by the Youth Ministry of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 12 to 4 p.m. The Church is located at 1002 Rivington St.

This fest is family friendly and all youth should be accompanied by an adult. No scary or violent costumes please. Refreshments will be served in the lower auditorium of the church.

This event is free and open to the community.

Families raising children with food allergies need to take extra precautions in order to keep their children safe. In addition, children with food allergies may also feel left out due the fact that many candies contain allergens and many celebrations center around these foods. Fortunately, there are many ways your family can safely celebrate Halloween with food allergies.

Port Authority Bridges & Tunnels Advisory: NJ DOT Route 495 Repairs Continue, Drivers Urged to Find Alternate Routes During Peak Rush-Hour

NJ Route 495 Construction Mitigation:

The rehabilitation by the New Jersey Department of Transportation of Route 495 – the main highway link to the Lincoln Tunnel – is under way and is scheduled to run for the next 2½ years.

The Port Authority advises drivers or bus passengers to factor substantial delays and traffic congestion into their planning, and to consider alternate routes into and out of New York City, including the George Washington Bridge and Holland Tunnel. The agency also is actively monitoring traffic conditions and travel times, and is taking additional measures to aid commuters and mitigate travel impacts, which are expected to be severe:
